Labour Force Participation

This dataset provides annual time‑series data on Sri Lanka’s labour force participation rate, showing the share of the working‑age population who are economically active. The economically active population refers to the people who are employed or actively seeking work.

The data incorporates a methodological change in the working-age definition: from 1990 to 2010, the participation rate is based on the economically active population aged 10 years and over, whereas from 2011 onwards, it follows the international standard of 15 years and over. It enables analysis of labour market engagement over time, including gender and demographic shifts in workforce involvement.
